Unveiling of Two Case Studies

The two case studies unveiled during the 3rd Collaboration Retreat 2012, provide an indepth view of the Requirements, Solution Selection and Benefits in choosing Connect Xf Email and Collaboration needs.

While the SBI Life Insurance case study is about implementing a Cloud-based Email Service for 8000+ branch users, the Taurus Mutual Fund case study talks about a Hybrid Email setup (Cloud + On Premise) that offers benefits of a hosted service as well as an inhouse mail server.

Welcome Address: Collaboration Retreat 2012

In his Welcome Address, Mr. Tarun Malaviya (CEO, Mithi Software) talks about the business impact of collaboration systems. He points out challenges faced by business owners and decision makers in enhancing Profits, lowering Operational Cost, ensuring Control, driving Innovation, Marketing effectively and building Sustainable businesses. Citing several day-to-day examples, he explains how the use of collaboration technologies is critical to overcoming these challenges. Opening Address: Impact of Collaboration on Enterprise Productivity

Mr. V.S. Parthasarthy (Group CIO, EVP -Group M&A, Finance & Accounts, Member of Group Executive Board, Mahindra & Mahindra Group) speaks about the impact of collaboration on enterprise productivity. He explains the mammoth task IT department played at M&M in connecting 40+ group companies across 400+ locations and achieving harmony across business processes. He shares in detail how they have put together several initiatives like MahiSpace, Ask Mahindra, Innovation Pad complying with M&M’s vision of adopting public/ private cloud and open source to take collaboration to the next level. He concludes giving examples of how various IT collaboration tools continue to benefit them in terms of Brand Building, Operations and Delivery Excellence, Environmental Sustainability, etc.

CXO Talk 1: Email and Collaboration as a Service on Public Cloud – An Experience

Mr. J.B. Bhaskar (CIO & Executive Member, SBI Life Insurance) shares his experience of setting up a reliable Email solution for SBI Life. He explains the challenges faced with the earlier email system and how they found the solution provided by Mithi in partnership with Trimax met their exacting standards. He summarizes several benefits experienced from the new mailing system in areas like Email delivery, Archival compliance, System uptime, DR site availability, Spam filtering, Admin console, Pay as you use mail boxes, etc. Check out the presentation here.

CXO Talk 2: Improving Collaboration and Productivity with BYOD

Mr. Sankaranarayanan Raghavan (Director IT, Aegon Religare Life Insurance) speaks about improving collaboration and productivity with Bring Your Own Device (BYOD). He starts with posing a question about how an organisation can make use of the current situation where a growing multitude has Smartphones, Laptops, Tablets, etc. He explains the challenges that organisations face in terms of increasing need for secured working environment, Y-O-Y dwindling budgets and an external environment that is rapidly changing. And outlines how Aegon Religare is leveraging the use of new devices while managing the risks by instilling discipline and control in the use of these devices at work systemically. CXO Talk 3: Running Email and Collaboration on a Private Cloud – Challenges and Payoffs

Mr Shanmughraj (Head IT, GTL Infrastructure) shares the challenges and payoffs of running email on a private cloud. He starts with explaining how unplanned growth of the earlier system had led to ballooning costs in terms of excess servers, storage space, admin staff, software licensing cost, etc. In their search for the right Email solution, he explains how they selected Mithi’s Connect Xf Email and Collaboration Server over other mailing solutions. He shares objective data on how GTL is experiencing benefits from the new mailing solution in terms of cost effectiveness, scalability and administrative ease.

Product Kiosks

As part of the Conference, Mithi and its partners had set up kiosks to demonstrate new features and solutions around Mithi Connect Xf. The Mithi kiosk offered a sneak preview into the pre-release version of Connect Xf 3.10 with focus on collaboration tools like Chat, Calendar & Mobile Access, and the next generation Web client Baya. The kiosks received very good response from the participants.
